Project description

This unsealed length of formed road is included in Griffith City Council’s Heavy Vehicle Bypass Strategy and is a crucial link in the development of an alternative bypass for heavy vehicle traffic to the south of Griffith. Stage 2a (Thorne Road (east) will be constructed to a suitable standard to accommodate heavy vehicle traffic which will link Stage 1 and Stage 2b of Griffith City Council's Heavy Vehicle Bypass to the south of the CBD, between Old Willbriggie Road and MR321 Kidman Way (Hanwood Road).

Construct Thorne Road (east)for a length of 1.112km to an 8.8m wide pavement with a sealed width of 7.0m. The construction will involve some vegetation removal and trimming, adjustment of utilities and services including irrigation and drainage structures, electricity, streetlighting and water supply. Minor realignment will be required.
