Project description

Failed road surface from an old and thin existing pavement that is saturated due to poor drainage and high traffic volumes due to a child care centre in the street

Install sub surface drainage on the high side of the road for the full length of the project. Improve surface drainage between driveways to existing stormwater pits. Full dig out and replacement of significantly failed section of pavement in front of Child care centre. Overlay existing pavement with road base and cement binder for additional strength and provide a bitumen seal.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
