Project description

The road surface is old and affected by numerous cracks at trafficable lanes. Due to past treatments and current surface defects, the road surface is rough to ride on. It is also allows water to penetrate into road base causing pavement failures and surface deformations.

The proposed work includes reconstruction of trafficable lanes with asphalt and resurfacing of the road with asphalt. Length = 190 m; Width = 12 m; Area = 2280 m2.

Total cost of proposed project is $138,273

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
