Project description

The existing road has insufficient pavement depth, is narrow, has poor vertical geometry and is subject to inundation that comprises safety.

The project provides for full reconstruction of approximately 2050m of pavement; works will include: services relocations, bulk earthworks, major culverts, kerb and channel installation, sub soil drainage, pavement works, bitumen surfacing, line marking and signage.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,815,528

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
