Project description

Yass Valley Council engaged a Structural Engineer to conduct a capacity inspection on this bridge. This bridge can no longer support the load it was previously, due to structural concerns and the possibilty of failings. This bridge has now been placed on a specified load restriction limit as per the consulting engineers recommendations.

Purchase and install a steel modular bridge to replace the existing timber bridge allowing the removal of the bridge load limit.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
