This project will upgrade the existing interchange, including two new bridges over the Bruce Highway, removal of the existing bridge and upgrades to two intersections immediately to the east and west of the interchange.
Improved road safety and freight efficiency through:
reduced crashes - reduce the likelihood of a crash resulting from congestion by increasing the capacity of the interchange and reduce queuing on off-ramps that block motorway lanes
improved travel time and travel time reliability – increased efficiency for freight and general traffic
lower vehicle operating costs – reduced overall fuel consumption for travel and reduced vehicle wear and tear
increased interchange capacity to cater for projected growth of freight and passenger movements.
The Australian Government has committed up to $147.2 million towards the project in partnership with the Queensland Government.
Construction commenced in October 2020 and was completed in November 2023.
