Project description

The project has undertaken planning works to upgrade the Shepparton Rail Line. The project will identify current and future freight rail requirements from Shepparton to Tocumwal and consider options to upgrade the rail line.

Benefits

The project will help inform future investment decisions and improve the standard of the Shepparton Rail Line.

Funding

The cost of this project was $1,500,000. The Australian Government contributed $500,000 and the Victorian Government contributed $1,000,000 under the Regional Rail Revival Package.

Timetable

Planning commenced on 17 August 2018 and was completed in Mid 2025.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
