Project description

Recent road condition audit has identified that this road asset in nearing its end of life and has significant defects in respect to pot holing and cracking with the road seal is showing a high degree of coarse texture. Also significant repair work is required to the kerb and water table and tree surrounds to protect pavement base from failure.

The proposed works will include replacement of kerb and line marking, road reconstruction and reseal

Total cost of proposed project is $180,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
