Project description

Existing Pat Smith causeway on Numinbah Rd washes out from overtopping in most flood events. Existing crossing consists of one only single small diameter pipe. Upstream creek has altered its flow so in large rain events it overflows and scours the eastern road approach rather overtopping the concrete causeway.

Proposed to replace causeway with multi-cell box culverts on a raised road level.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,004,771

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
