Project description

Pavement is in poor condition, it's narrow and poor drainage so is dangerous with no formalised shared pathway.

Upgrade including kerb and gutter, stormwater drainage. Box out unsuitable base and subgrade and replace with 400mm of Aus Spec quality base material. Seal with 10mm spray seal then overlay with 40mm AC14 asphalt. Line mark. 185m long. One lane each way. Also included a 2.5m wide shared path full length.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
