Project description

The existing roadway has experienced a significant increase in freight movements servicing the poultry industry expansion in adjoining Wakefield Council. As a result maintenance costs have increased along with shortened life of the road due to increased heavy vehicle use. The upgrade will allow access by larger vehicles to transport general freight to and from the farms. The road has very little vertical deviation and is flat for the majority of its length. The upgrade will support economic activities associated with the poultry industry in the region.

The 2.0km section of road will be reconstructed and sealed to a formation width of 11.0m, sealed width of 8.0m, with pavement thickness of 300mm compacted, standard cross-section with 3% falls. Signing and guideposts in accordance with Australian Standards. This is a joint project in that neighbouring council Wakefield Regional Council has approved 2017-18 FAG's funding (Identified Local Road - Special Local Road) approved for a further section of Mail Road that runs through their council area.

Total cost of proposed project is $315,600
