Project description

At present, the two ends of Crittenden Road are segregated by Smith Creek and are not connected. Crittenden Road extension is a key element of the Playford Alive master Plan and supports the vision for the overall area in providing a highly connected street pattern providing motorists with multiple route options and linkages between the original suburbs ‘Smithfield Plains’ and the newer suburbs ‘Andrews Farm. Crittenden Road is identified as a Minor Collector Road and is not currently serviced by Public Transport and with the road extension it is anticipated this will serve as an alternative route for East-West connectivity, given that both John Hartley School and St Columbia College are within the localised vicinity.

The work proposed includes construction of a new kerbed urban road connection matching into the existing sections of Crittenden Road, consisting of new road granular pavement, asphalt wearing course, upright kerbing, guard rail, footpath, shared use path, pedestrian fencing, LED road lighting and pavement marking. Construction of a concrete box culvert crossing sized for the 1 in 100 year ARI storm event across Smith Creek consisting of new, reinforced concrete box culverts, link slab, scour protection, headwalls and gabion walls. Associated earthworks with the construction of the new road connection and culvert crossing.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,539,000
