Project description

The bridge is required to complete the link of the Palmers Road Corridor. This Corridor is planned to be a link between the Calder Freeway and the Princess Freeway. Currently traffic is required to travel along Caroline Springs Boulevard and into the town centre which creates congestion issues.

It is proposed to construct 950m of new road and a 3 lane bridge over the Kororoit Creek. The project will also construct noise walls , lighting upgrades, shared paths & landscaping.

Total cost of proposed project is $9,200,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
