Project description

As part of Council's reseal program the existing condition of the seal was scheduled for reseal, that being at the end of its useful life. However there are some areas of pavement deterioration of which will involve additional rehabiliattion.

Some areas will require re-works of which will involve striping the existing seal and rehabilitation of the existing pavement. The entire road will be resealed with a two coat spray seal application.

Total cost of proposed project is $250,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
