Project description

Traffic on Mort Street is expected to increase due to the construction Toowoomba Second Range Crossing. The current standard of the existing intersection will not provide adequate levels of service for the increase volumes of traffic and turning movements of B-Double class trucks.

The proposed work for the new intersection: • The current intersection including the legs up Hogg Street and Griffiths Street will be reconstructed and widened to create a signalised multi lane intersection including dedicated turning lands and concrete centre medians • Mort Street wil be reconstructed on a new alignment to improve a previously poor horizontal alignment • A new Open Level Rail Crossing constructed by others required to accommodate the new turning lanes • Replacement of the existing stormwater system to accommodate new intersection configuration and upgraded to meet current standards

Total cost of proposed project is $8,191,825
