Project description

The project will construct a new bridge on the Midland Highway over the Derwent River at Bridgewater.

Benefits

The project will improve travel times and connectivity in Hobart, as well as safety for drivers. The new bridge is expected to improve the efficiency and reduce the cost of freight movements and will support regional and local economic development in Tasmania.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $628.8 million to deliver this project.

Timetable

The project commenced construction in October 2022 and is expected to be completed by mid 2026.
