Project description

The METRONET: Thornlie-Cockburn Link project is a 17.5km link connecting the existing Thornlie Rail Line to Cockburn Central Station on the Mandurah Line. The project will provide two new stations and park and ride facilities at Nicholson Road and Ranford Road.

Benefits

Connecting the Mandurah and Armadale lines will open up new opportunities for integrated, liveable communities around the proposed Nicholson Road Station and better public transport connections for the light industrial area surrounding Ranford Road.

The Thornlie-Cockburn Link will support growth and accessibility across the southern suburbs by providing direct access to employment, sporting and recreation opportunities at Canning Vale, Cannington Strategic Metropolitan Centre, Burswood Peninsula and the eastern CBD.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $485 million towards the Thornlie-Cockburn Link.

Timetable

Works have commenced for the Thornlie-Cockburn Link. Train services are expected to be operating by mid 2025.
