Project description

This section of road is only 200 metres long .It is very wide and now takes B Triple and AA road trans .Over the last 3 years we have had 2 large trucking companies relocate to this area as well as an existing one .DPTI have allowed for increase in truck lengths and combinations that access this road and it is estimated that some 120 trucks operate from this area. Extra traffic on the road has caused rapid wear on the surface.

This proposal is for a SAM 2 coat seal using 14/7 aggregate .Due to high demand applications of bitumen and stone will require extra material and laying costs

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
