Project description

The Gold Coast Light Rail - Stage 3 project will extend the existing light rail system by approximately 6.7km to the south, from the Stage 1 terminus at Broadbeach South Station to Burleigh Heads. It will include eight new light rail stations, upgraded pedestrian and cycling facilities, and an upgraded bus and rail interchange at Burleigh Heads Station.

The project will increase connectivity, reduce congestion and improve travel times. 

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $395.6 million to the project.

Timetable

Construction commenced in mid 2022 and is expected to be completed by mid-2025.
