Project description

The existing road pavement in Newdegate Street between Mellifont Street and Lochner Street is deteriorating forming numerous potholes, resulting in hazards for vehicular traffic on a bus route and the need for continual maintenance.

The proposed work consists of a full road pavement reconstruction for the length of Newdegate Street between Mellifont Street and Lochner Street including the Lochner Street junction. The existing cross section profile of the road is being adjusted to improve (reduce) the road cross fall on the northern side. The renewal of the channel of the kerb and channel is also included, with the heritage sandstone kerb blocks to remain. Furthermore, there will be pedestrian upgrades at the junctions to improve pedestrian / road safety.

Total cost of proposed project is $700,000
