Project description

These projects will increase the capacity of park and ride facilities at Mango Hill Station and Ferny Grove Station.

Benefits

The projects are expected to:

Improve accessibility, connectivity and productivity

Improve safety and travel times

Improve network reliability

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $16 million to these projects.

Timetable

Construction at Mango Hill commenced mid-June 2022 and completed early 2023. Construction at Ferny Grove commenced mid-2021 and is expected to complete mid 2026.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
