Project description

The project is upgraded key intersections along Ballarto Road in Skye, in Melbourne's south east.

Benefits

The project is expected to reduce congestion, improve access, travel times and safety for all road users.

Funding

The Australian Government is contributing $30 million and the Victorian Government is contributing $6.5 million.

The project commenced construction in January 2023 and was completed mid 2025

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
