Project description

The project will upgrade five intersections along the Princes Highway, at O'Neil Road, Glismann Road, Bayview Road, Tivendale Road and Thewlis Road.

Benefits

The project will reduce congestion, travel times, improve reliability, access and safety along the corridor.

Funding

The Australian Government is contributing $23.55 million towards the project, with Cardinia Shire Council contributing $12 million.

Timetable

Construction on O'Neil Road, Glismann Road, Bayview Road and Tivendale Road is complete. Delivery timeframes for Thewlis Road are to be confirmed in consultation with Cardinia Shire Council.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
