Project description

This project will deliver a Business Case for Stage 1 of the Coomera Connector between Coomera and Nerang. The business case will consider an alternative route for motorists travelling between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Benefits

If constructed, a second M1 corridor is expected to:

relieve pressure on the M1 by providing more route choices for local traffic and additional crossings of the Logan, Coomera and Nerang Rivers
provide improved connections and accessibility to more transport options on the northern Gold Coast
reduce travel time between Brisbane and the Gold Coast by reducing the number of local trips on the M1
increase safety on the M1 by reducing congestion and potential queuing on the M1
provide more reliable travel times between Brisbane and the Gold Coast

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $15.25 million to this project.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
