Project description

The project will investigate and deliver improved road crossing options for the Calliope River to support access to Gladstone Port for heavy vehicles and improve safety by reducing congestion for all road users.

Benefits

The project will enhance freight efficiency, reduce congestion and improve road safety for all motorists.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $100 million and the Queensland Government $25 million to the $125 million project.

Timetable

A business case is being developed for the project that will determine the scope, cost, benefits and timeframes. The business case is expected to be completed in mid 2026. Once completed, the project will be considered by the Australian and Queensland Governments.
