Project description

The Tasman Highway Intelligent Transport Solutions upgrade will include targeted infrastructure modifications and replacement of the lane management system on the Tasman Bridge to provide more contemporary management of traffic.

Benefits

Improve congestion and travel times for commuters travelling on the Tasman Bridge.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $11.5 million towards the project.

Timetable

The project commenced construction in October 2023 and is expected to be completed by mid-2027.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
