Project description
Forrest Highway, Robertson Drive and Bussell Highway in Bunbury are experiencing congestion and safety issues due to a mix of tourist, local and freight traffic. Access to Bunbury Port for road freight is also inefficient with heavy vehicles using indirect routes and being constrained by a number of at grade intersections.
This project will construct a northern connection to Forrest Highway (Stage 2) and a southern connection to Bussell Highway (Stage 3) from the existing Bunbury Outer Ring Road Stage 1 link, which was completed in May 2013.
Benefits
- Improved road safety for all road users
- Reduced congestion and improved travel times
- Improved efficiency and network reliability
- Improved connectivity between people with jobs and services, and goods with market
Funding
The Australian Government has committed $1.108 billion towards the project.
Timetable
The project commenced January 2021 and is expected to be completed late 2024.
