Project description

The project delivered pedestrian safety improvements on Frankston-Flinders Road in Balnarring through the installation of pedestrian operated signals, zebra crossing across Service Lane and speed reduction within the township area.

The upgrade of Frankston-Flinders Road in Balnarring delivered pedestrian safety improvements through the installation of signals and refuges.

Funding

The Australian Government contributed $1 million to the project.

Timetable

Construction commenced in September 2021 and was completed in March 2022.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
