Project description

This project replaced the existing rounabout at Rochedale Road and Priestdale Road in Rochedale with a signalised intersection. The project included: four through lanes on Rochedale Road, two through lanes on Priestdale Road, signalised crossings, cycle paths and off road shared paths on all four legs.

Benefits

This project delivered improved accessibility, connectivity and productivity, and improved safety and travel times.

Funding

The Australian Government committed $14 million towards this project.

Timetable

The project reached practical completion late January 2023.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
