Project description
This project will upgrade Stanage Bay Road, which runs from the Bruce Highway to Stanage. The project involves widening and sealing approximately 39.7km of unsealed road between the Bruce Highway and the Stevens Road Access Army Gate.
Benefits
This project will improve productivity, resilience and safety on Stanage Bay Road, including:
- improved travel reliability by increasing wet weather and flood resilience
- improved connectivity and interoperability across internal and external road networks
- improved road safety by providing a 6.5 metre seal on an 8 metre pavement
- realising significant cost savings from reduced long-term maintenance and whole-of-life asset cost
Funding
The Australian Government has commited $21.6 million to this project.
Timetable
Construction commenced in February 2021 and was completed in June 2023.
