Project description
The Project will upgrade Illawarra Main Road between the western extents of Perth Links Road to the Bass Highway at Carrick, in Northern Tasmania.
Benefits
The upgrades are expected to prioritise widening, improving and adding protected overtaking lanes to the section from Bass Highway to Longford, and to improve and shorten the route for both freight and passenger vehicles.
Funding
The estimated cost of the project is $80 million. The Australian Government is contributing $64 million and the Tasmanian Government $16 million.
Timetable
Construction commence in April 2022 with construction expected to be completed by May 2026.
