Project description

The project will plan and upgrade the Macquarie University Station Bus Interchange, optimising bus operations and pedestrian access to and from the interchange precinct, as well as future proofing transport operations in the area.

The Australian Government has committed $90 million to the Macquarie Park Precinct and Bus Interchange project

Timetable

Planning is underway with construction expected to commence in Late 2026 and is expected to be completed in Early 2029.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
