Project description

The project upgraded the length of Dunns Road, constructed a roundabout at the intersection of Holbrook Road and Dunns Road and upgraded the intersection at Olympic Highway and Dunns Road.

The project improved access for communities and safety.

Funding

Australian Government contribution is capped at $5,804,356.

Wagga Wagga City Council have contributed $3,204,392 to the total project cost.

Timetable

Construction commenced in February 2022 and was completed March 2024.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
