Project description

The intersection of River Terrace and Main Street at Kangaroo Point, is identified as a location for an upgrade to improve safety and efficiency of the Main Street corridor. The project will upgrade the existing intersection, providing an additional through lane and two dedicated right turn lanes into River Terrace.

The project will involve installing two dedicated right turn lanes on Main Street into River Terrace.

Total cost of proposed project is $6,921,208

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
