Project description

The existing road surface and shoulder widths are below those detailed in the Shire's road hierarchy policy for the category of road. The super elevation on corners is not to the relevant Australian Standard. The existing road surface has rutting, pot holes and edge breaks and in some areas no crown exists causing pooling of water in the middle of the road. The road is on the restricted access vehicle network for 25 metre road trains. Narrow road lanes, poor geometry and a damaged road surface cause safety risks for users of the road. Existing storm water culverts are constructed with butt joint pipes.

Reconstruct the full road width to Australian Standards and Shire policy including new table drains, new gravel sub-base, a six metre spray sealed surface and one metre shoulders on each side. Replace storm water culverts with socket and spigot pipes. Place guide posts and signage as per relevant Standards or guidelines.

Total cost of proposed project is $457,152
