Project description

The road surface, pavement and kerb and channel are dilapidated condition. The road has deteriorated over the years and uneven, showing signs of failures. Extensive vehicle crossovers damage as well as scraping of road pavement, causing drainage problems. There is no sufficient drainage in the street either to drain the road surface runoff.

The work involves installation of new kerb and channel, reinstating failed pavement sections, providing asphalt patching to correct unevenness, asphalt resurfacing and providing adequate drainage to the court.

Total cost of proposed project is $123,000

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
