Project description

Existing pavement in poor condition with areas showing signs of distress, shape loss and failure, along with severe cracking throughout the road which could result in an unsafe driving surface.

Major pavement rehabilitation along certain sections of the road to improve pavement strength to cater for heavy vehicles and large traffic volumes. A new asphalt surface will also be applied to provide a safe and comfortable journey for users.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
