Project description

Prone to flooding and impassable, Residents are cut off from outside services when roads flood for several months each year. No emergency services can gain access, Flood water 3.5 metres over crossing during wet season. Road is impassable as it goes through is a deep creek crossing and community residents are cut off from outside services. During dry season the access to and from the creek crossing is steep and dangerous to vehicles, due to large washouts, ruts and bull dust.

Reinforced Concrete Box Culverts – dimensions 1200mm wide x 600mm high. Road design solution: Install 2 x 1200 x 600mm Reinforced Concrete Box Culverts, install 8 metre wide concrete floodway Reinforced Concrete Box Culverts at 2.5 metre above existing level. Raise approach formation length XI (i.e. distance in or community side) = 250 metres, XO ( distance out) = 100 metres Start point Chainage 4.6 klms from Port Keats Rd, end point Chainage 4.9 Klms from Port Keats Rd at Emu Point Road, total length of road works 300 metres
