Project description

Alleena Road has a 6m side gravelled surface. This section of Alleena Road has extensive gravel loss with other failures such as rutting and potholes. It is not safe for vehicles to travel along this section.

It is planned to regravel the sections which have extensive gravel loss with 75mm compacted gravel. The projects involves traffic control, scarifying the surface, reshaping the road, adding gravel, compacting and restoring the table drains and mitre drains.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
