Project description

Surface has significant deterioration. Various potholes consistent across entire road segment surface. Patches from previous repair work have sagged and the existing surface is rough/rutting making it hazardous to drive on. There is also significant surface cracking evident.

Works to rectify include full width profile. Replace surface with 40mm hot mix asphalt. Some pavement patching works to be done during hot mixing. Areas of kerb and watertable to be repaired.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
