Project description

Regional Road with high traffic volumes and a speed zone of 100km/hr. Existing pavement has been heavy patched and resealed in 2017 - but the pavement design required a 200mm AC overlay to complete the work and provide a suitable pavement. Funding was not available to complete the work. There are also several lengths of chain wire fence that needs replacing with an approved safety barrier.

Complete pavement design requirements by installing a 200mm asphalt pavement over the existing sealed surface with shoulder widening and guardrail installation to match new pavement levels. Improved delineation with linemarking, raised pavement markers and guidepost installation.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
