Project description

The northbound lane is in need of renewal and require kerb and gutter and stormwater drainage upgrade. Surface course is in poor condition and water is infiltrating the base layer due to inadequate drainage system.

Road pavement reconstruction over approximately 2,250sqm. Road pavement works include 250mm thick cement stabilised base course and 50mm thick asphalt concrete wearing surface on top. Works also include provision of kerb and gutter and stormwater drainage upgrade.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
