Project description

Jarvis Road is classified as a secondary freight route within Council Road Management Hierarchy. It is currently unsealed and as a result requires significant maintenance. The pavement depth is insufficient to accommodate large freight movements and requires additional depth and sealing to ensure it is fit for purpose and meets its intended useful life.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
