Project description

The existing pavement frequently suffers from water pooling and potholing issues. The water pooling issues are exacerbate the deterioration of the pavement and the pavements substructure. There is also a significant amount of edge breaking due to the narrow pavement width. Includes the construction of a roundabout at Wilkinson Street and Carmichael Street

installation of kerb and channel, including drainage improvements, asphalting, new roundabout construction and some minor road widening.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
