Project description

Existing road shoulders are uneven with failures requiring reconstruction. Existing kerb and gutter is uneven with surface water pooling for extended periods of time.

Reconstruct the road shoulder on either side of Macauley Street including strengthening the existing sub-base through stabilisation and constructing a new base course pavement. Resealing the entire width of Macauley Street, including the reconstructed shoulders and existing travel lanes. Reconstruct the existing kerb and gutter along both sides of Macauley Street.

Total cost of proposed project is $216,582

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
