Project description

The current drainage is insufficient for the stormwater to escape during significant rains which creates substantial damage to buildings and infrastructure. The upgrade to the road will improve the drainage by directing the flow of water down the road to eliminate road surface damage and the residents properties flooding.

Construct and seal 200m pavement full length, construct upright kerbing full length on northern side and install side entry pit and 40 meters of pipework.

Total cost of proposed project is $62,418

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
