Project description

The existing road width is too narrow as well as the current surface condition is in a poor state requiring a full bitumen re seal over the widened sections of the road

Range Road will be be widened to achieve a 9m formation with under a separate widening program. The R2R allocation of funding will be used to provide a bitumen over seal complete with centre and fog lines to the 13km of widening, improving the surface condition and road safety.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
