Project description

Significant amount of corrosion in the steel girders, deck and railing components was identified whilst undertaking the level 2 inspection in September 2018. Furthermore the significant movement was identified in the abutment with cracking up 100mm observed. Structure also exhibited concrete spalling to all pier bracing members.

To facilitate this replacement - survey, geo-technical investigation, hydraulic analysis and detail design is required to be undertaken in preparation for competitive tendering.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
