The Toowoomba to Seymour Corridor is a critical link in Australia’s freight transport network. This investment will deliver targeted upgrades along the Toowoomba to Seymour Corridor in New South Wales, including the Newell Highway, which contributes to the competitiveness of Australia's agriculture and mining sectors.
The upgrades are designed to address issues impacting the performance of this critical freight corridor including barriers to the adoption of High Productivity Vehicles, safety concerns, flood resilience, localised congestion and insufficient overtaking opportunities.
There are currently 14 committed projects on the corridor. See list below.
In addition to the above, the Australian Government announced that it will contribute $50 million on 10 January 2023 for the project: Newell Highway Flood Immunity - West Wyalong to Forbes. This funding will be formalised in the May 2023-24 Budget.
Australian Government funding for the Corridor: $300 million
NSW Government contribution to the corridor: $80 million.
Relevant local councils will contribute a further $20.06 million to these projects.
The Australian and NSW Government's will work together to determine the best way to utilise the balance of funds.
Projects on this corridor started construction in early 2020.
Please refer to the individual webpages for the commencement and completion dates for each project.
