Project description

The road has extensive cracking patching and depressions. The concrete kerb & gutter has cracking and is misaligned in a number of places. Existing public lighting is not compliant with current standards. There is no existing footpath.

Reconstruct the road pavement and provide 40mm asphaltic concrete wearing surface. New concrete kerb & gutter. Upgrade public lighting to meet current standards by installing new LED luminaires. Install a new paved footpath on the western side of the road.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
